Free To Air Satellite TV Reception

For the majority that don’t know about “Free To Air Satellite TV reception” (FTA), this information is for you. Did you know that there are 100s of free Satellite TV channels that you can legally watch for free? For the TV watching guys/gals like me that would rather not pay much or nothing at all for Satellite TV, there is a way for you to enjoy most of these channels legally for FREE! This option is known as (FTA) Free To Air satellite TV. To receive these TV channels you will need a satellite dish (they range in size from as little as 60cm to 4.0m and beyond in diameter), Linear LNB (for KU band and C-band LNB for C-band reception), RG-6 Cables, a Receiver and the aiming parameters for the satellite. Depending on your satellite of choice you can receive anywhere from 25 to 75 or more of unencrypted channels for your viewing pleasure. Most, if not all of the needed hardware can be bought locally where ever you live. If you have the time and some money you will enjoy this hobby, and the equipment are becoming more powerful, user-friendly and cheaper. Can you imagine watching NTA on Galaxy 19 @ 97°W in North America, on Eurobird 1 at 28.5°E I Europe? What about being able to watch free sports, Movies, News and Entertainment channels? Believe me when you get into this hobby you’ll be glad you did. Remember these channels are all legally and legitimately free of Charge. You don’t have to pay any monthly bills to any provider(s). It should also be noted that, I have absolutely nothing to gain from this post except to share the knowledge that is already legally available to all Satellite hobbyists and enthusiasts. Interesting !!

I have some questions for me and others who might be looking at this as another option to cable. Is it legal in most countries and easy to assemble?

It is legal in all countries. Depending on the size of the dish, your location and the Satellite your trying to receive, installation is fairly easy. For example for me to receive NTA, Ajazeera English, Russia Today, Press TV, Senegal TV, and a bunch of other International TV stations on Galaxy 19 @ 97°W KU band in the USA, I bought a Receiver, Universal or Linear KU LNB, a 36in (90cm) Dish, RG6 Cable, and looked for the transponders on Lyngsat.com (all channels in yellow are free). I also used a compass to locate where to point my dish, or you can use Dishpointer (you can even input your adress that way you can see if the area you had in mind for the dish is not blocked by trees or buildings) to locate your Dish Elevation, Azimuth and LNB skew.
